Since 2003 Detlef has organized this trip and takes a group of up to 10 people interested in the historic sites and restored Romanesque churches of Cologne as well as a full day’s visit to the Cathedral that includes the stained glass and masonry studios. He also is able to get into areas that are not so accessible to tourists. We also visit the Glass School in Rheinbach. We usually leave from Montreal on a Friday evening and arrive in Germany on Saturday morning so we have Saturday and Sunday to relax and start our four-day visiting tour from Monday to Thursday.

On Friday most people want to do some shopping and explore the city on their own and then take the return flight on Saturday or Sunday. Some people also organize travel to other German or European destinations or decide to remain in Cologne longer to take advantage of the rich cultural sites and events that are available all the time. I usually stay for two weeks in Cologne because it is my hometown. For the March 2008 tour, everybody who is interested must confirm no later than November 2007 in order to ensure a hotel reservation.
